Made from vines that were planted in 1900; fermented in small, open-top stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation and 22 months of aging in new French oak barriques.
Smoke-accented cherry, black raspberry and candied licorice on the explosively perfumed nose. Plush, open-knit red and blue fruit liqueur, vanilla and floral pastille flavors display a peppery nuance and gain vivacity with aeration. Spicy and broad on the strikingly persistent finish, which shows alluring sweetness and just a hint of fine-grained, harmonious tannins.
